Abstract

Practical learning plays an essential role in the Embedded Robotics course, particularly in understanding the concepts of DC, Stepper, and Servo Motors. An Embedded Motor Trainer was developed as an interactive teaching aid to enable students to conduct experiments and comprehend motor operating principles in a practical manner. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the trainer in supporting learning, its level of safety, and the suitability of its design from the perspective of students enrolled in the Embedded Robotics course at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Politeknik Mersing Johor. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire covering three main aspects: usability and effectiveness, safety, and design suitability. The results indicate that the Embedded Motor Trainer effectively aids students’ understanding of motor concepts, provides a satisfactory level of safety, and demonstrates a design appropriate for teaching and learning. The findings offer valuable insights for lecturers and institutions in enhancing the quality of teaching aids and laboratory-based teaching strategies.
